Mac-wah's Witnesses| icy; Wednesday, July 22, 2009 | | Reads: 457 |
More and more I am convinced that "Mac users are some sort of a religious movement or a clan/cult"
- They want everybody to use Mac
- They despise everything else
- They are happy that a single person is dictating what's good for them and how good it is
- They are ready to prove #3 that his designs, decisions are the best out of all possible others
- They believe that theirs is the best and everything else is the worst.
- They are ready to prove #5 and will cite anything and everything to do so
- They try to convert whomever they come across who is not on their side
- They are ready to prove #7 and its various benefits with a multitude of examples, anecdotes, friend/family experiences
- They never get tired of doing so
Sounds vaguely familiar, these attitudes... | | Gems from me | Pearlies| icy; Thursday, July 23, 2009 | | Reads: 145 |
There is a difference between having a lot, and needing a little.
Happiness is a point of view.
It is very easy to learn how to speak; it is very hard to learn how to actually say something.
Then there is no "free speech". If you try defining "what's free" then you can no longer talk about "free"; the concept at hand beomes "defined" which means "rule-bound" which is the opposite of "free"... Sad... Yes, freedom depends on what you want to be free of; but you are either free or not, there is no in between.
All you get from doing good work, is more work.

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Well, in Pepsi's case, it was worth about "the design cost of a new logo" every decade or so. What a bunch of douce bags.
Pepsi: What a funny sounding word. I wonder how that one came about. | | Television is the first truly democratic culture | Clive Barnes| icy; Saturday, July 25, 2009 | | Reads: 400 |
"Television is the first truly democratic culture - the first culture available to everybody and entirely governed by what the people want. The most terrifying thing is what people do want."
Clive Barnes (1927-); New York Times - December 30, 1969
Well said Clive. And it is frightening to see how accurate you words turn out to be 40 years after. The TV is full of garbage, junk food for the brain to consume, get fat, lazy and become obeze. Yeap, obeze. And you thought only your belly could get fat, your brain gets fat too. Instead of forming neural pathways to actually produce something, a modern teenager's brain is wired to consume input and never produce anything. You want proof, try talking to one.
- It's like, yeah, totally. Um, you know, like, I was like, you know...
- What?
- You're so lame!
- And you are a moron.
Well, not all of them though. There is this show on television and, like, there are kids, like five graders or something. And they are like, super smart. And they don't really watch television that much, they like, study a lot. And there are like, adults.... and they get on the show... and like, race or something and they lose and they say that they are dumber than they look, or not smarter than a five grader, or something... you know...
Television rots your brain. Except cartoons, and science fiction, and documentaries, and... you know... porn and such... what?!? | | Yeasayer | Weird + Interesting+ Pure Genius| icy; Sunday, July 12, 2009 | | Reads: 214 |
Today I discovered these guys whilst hanging around the vast corners of Internet.
Try to listen in the order below. It will have a better impact on you. It's quite hard to classify these guys musically, some part raggae, some part blues, some electronic - mostly in "Depeche Mode" sense, very "Talking Heads" like, but absolutely interesting.
I first discovered this one, and I thought "Wow, what an interesting sound"
[Yeasayer: 2080]
Then I listened to this one, and I thought "Himm, these guys are weird"
[Yeasayer: Sunrise]
Then I listened to this one, and I thought "Him, these guys are pure genius and an absolute fresh breath"

Yeasayer: Wait for the Summer Lyrics |
Life is easier when one of us is dead
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey
I will wait a year
Noone starts to hear an accidental fall
And they won’t suspect a thing at all
Wait for the summer
We’ll sleep when we wanna
Don’t tell your mother
We’ll leave when we
We’ll leave when we wanna
And I have dreamed about it
Now I read about it
And I can’t grieve about it
And I can’t heeeeeeeeeey
Someone help me
Someone help me
Someone help | me please
Someone help me
Someone help me
Someone help me please
It’s an accidental fall
And they won’t suspect a thing at all
Wait for the summer
We’ll leave when we wanna
Look at your mother
Is that who ya
Is that who ya wanna?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Ooooooh Oooooh
Ooooooh Oooooh

Killed my lady yeah when I was drinking
And in there too long, won’t she start screaming?
What a proud old man, what was she thinking?
I hear her voice sometimes
When I’ve been
When I've been dreaming
Rising rising falling down
I’m rising rising falling down
I’m rising rising falling down
I’m rising rising falling down
I’ll kill my baby with a bullet
One last shot right into her head
And I’m falling falling falling down
I sink into the river
Sink into the river
Killed my lady yeah when I was dreaming
I’ll kill my baby with a bullet
One last shot right into her head
And I’m falling falling falling down
Sink into the river
Sink into the river
I hear her voice sometimes
When I’ve been
When I’ve been drinking
Rising rising falling down
I’m rising fising falling down
I’m rising rising falling down
I’m rising rising falling down
